Yoga Holiday

Over the weekend the 29th March 2012 to the 2nd April 2012, Le Moulin du Lary was booked by The Magic of Yoga ( for their 2012 Yoga Holiday (others have been held in Spain).

The weather held for them and the sun shone during the days and evening meals were possible on the terrace “al fresco”.

Our flexible accommodation provided all that was required, helped by a very warm and dry early spring.

A perfect location for groups of friends to holiday together or families to hold re-unions Le Moulin du Lary can also cater for larger occasions.

When a local girl from Montguyon decided to marry a young man from Wales, the happy couple chose to hold their reception at Le Moulin du Lary.

The secluded location of Le Moulin du Lary is perfect for a large event of this type as we have no near neighbours, are not on a main road and, as with this happy couple, both the houses were booked for the week before,, there is plenty of room for the accommodation of guests as they arrive . There was also no problem with the entertainment, which went on until past 0400 (as is common with French weddings).

Reflections in the water     Marquees     Marquees

To provide shelter in the event of inclement weather, and an indoor area for dining, 4 marquees were hired in and erected between the Millerís Cottage and the lake.

In addition to the 4 marquees, china, cutlery, tables, table linen, all the catering equipment and a floor for the marquees were hired in. Delivered during the week before to allow preparation time, all were collected on the following Monday. In view of the numbers, Portaloos were also hired in to provide the necessary additional facilities.

The hot dinner was prepared in the kitchen of the cottage and served ďal frescoĒ under the shelter of the trees just outside. The dinner took place within the marquees where there was plenty of space for the 150 guests to be seated comfortably and for an area for meeting, greeting and, after the dinner, for dancing to the Caleigh Band.

Welly Boot Throwing     Off Road Parking     Brave Campers!

During the afternoon the French were introduced to that most “traditional” Welsh pastime – “Welly Boot Throwing” from the terrace at the rear of the Farmhouse from which pre-dinner drinks were served.
Off road, secure, parking was not a problem as the adjacent field (of over 3 hectares) was used as a car park.
Although Le Moulin du Lary can accommodate 12 in the Farmhouse and 4 in the cottage, there was need to provide accommodation for additional guests. This was furnished by using local gites, the small hotel in Cercoux and, for the hardier, by their pitching more than 16 small tents within the grounds themselves.

In 2010 we were proud to host our second wedding here at Le Moulin du Lary. This time it was an English couple, who live locally, and who got married at the Maire and held the reception here.

There was a ceremony on the lawn overlooking the Millpond, the photographs were taken in and around the grounds and we welcomed 80 people here for the event, including French friends and a large contingent from both Essex and Kent.

Marquees were hired in and local caterers provided the food while wine was brought in from local vineyards.

The evening ended with a group playing music, dancing on a wooden dance floor and drink flowing.

While we, at Le Moulin du Lary, did not make all the arrangements, we did “get involved” and learned a lot about what to get from where and how to do it.

Many of the “family” stayed at Le Moulin du Lary before the event and afterwards, just to prepare for the event and to have a short break afterwards.
